Description
The USDA, ARS, Western Regional Research Center, Albany, California has a requirement for a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) minispec system that can perform a non-destructive analysis (NDA) for seeds oil content where the oil content in the whole seed can be measured within 1 – 2 minutes without disruption of the seed. The system must have a closed cycle (sealed to outside air) temperature regulation system. Outside air and also dust must not pass through the system for ventilation purposes. The system must have precise temperature control of electronics and magnet compartment. Temperature should be controlled automatically by PID logic to within 5/1000 K. The temperature of the magnet and electronics must be maintained constantly to enable highly repeatable NMR signal performance and minimal field drift, which in turn provides stable results without the need for recalibrating the instrument. The system must allow easy exchange of the different probes when measuring different sample sizes. The probe assembly must incorporate an “intelligent” Plug and Play system for rapid tool-free exchange of the unit through a hatch in the magnet cover. The system must have a maintenance-free optical sample detector for all types of glass, quartz and plastic samples. Control of the system from a host PC should be by industry standard ethernet link (TCP/IP). The minispec magnet and electronics must be combined into one unit with footprint not greater than 18.25 x 23.5 inches (width x depth). This solicitation incorporates the following commercial FAR clauses by reference 52.212-1, 52.212-2, 52.212-3, 52.212-4, and 52.212-5. Funds are not currently available for this acquisition and award will be made subject to the availability of funds. Interested vendors are encouraged to submit proposals containing descriptive literature (refer to FAR 52.214-21) of their products to Clarice Dixson, USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Western Regional Research Center, 800 Buchanan Street, Albany, CA 94710 or by e-mail to Clarice.Dixson@ars.usda.gov no later than 4:00PM PDST September 23, 2008. (Please specify any shipping/ freight costs).
