Description: The National Park Service is seeking a qualified contractor for the conversion of the existing wet sprinkler system to a "glycol" system Project Scope General purpose: The project consists of the conversion of the existing wet and dry sprinkler system in existing building 102 at Sandy Hook Gateway National Recreation Area, Monmouth County New Jersey. Specific purpose: To convert the existing wet and dry fire suppression system to a freeze resistant automatic fire sprinkler system in building 102 where the heating system will be disabled for the winter. Required Services: The services to be provided will be the investigation of the existing building and install the most appropriate system which includes but is not limited to the conversion of the existing system to a glycol based system, the removal of the valve and pressure switch from the dry portion ( in the attic) and replace with a pipe and flow switch. The installation of an anti freeze loop in the water control room with a new main flow switch. Bleed the system of air, install signage at appropriate location as per NFPA guidelines. Activate the system. The system shall meet the requirements of NFPA and any other codes having jurisdiction. Warranty Contractor shall warranty system from failure to a minus 20 degrees F, for a period of 1 year. Extended warranty The contractor shall provide a price quote to extend the warranty for a period of 3 years past initial warranty. Period of performance The successful bidder shall have 60 days from notice to proceed to complete the installation and testing. Submission requirements Those responding to this announcement shall fully address their capabilities, capacity and qualifications, indicating similar projects completed. LOCATION: The work will occur at the Building 102, at the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area, Sandy Hook, NJ.. The NAICS code for this project is 238220 and the small business size standard is $14.0 million. This contract is set-aside for Emerging Small Business which is equaled to 50% of the small business size. Contract duration is 60 days following notice to proceed. In accordance with FAR Subpart 36.204, the price range for this contract is between $10,000 and $25,000. The National Park Service encourages the participation of disadvantaged and women-owned business enterprises. A site visit can be arranged by contacting Brian Forseth at (732) 872-5921.
