Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Digestive, Diabetes & Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to procure from PicoQuant Photonics North America, Inc., 61 Union Street, Westfield, MA 01085 the following new items: 1.P/N: 910004 PDL 800-D: Picosecond diode laser driver, 31 kHz to 80 MHz internal repetition rate, including cw and gating option Quantity (1) 2.P/N: 912485 LDH-D-C-485: Laser head with integrated collimator and TE cooler for temperature stabilization, Dual mode; ps pulsed and cw operation, cw works only with SEPIA II or PDL 800-D. Quantity (1) The Institute intends to procure these items under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 6.302. To the best of the Governments knowledge PicoQuant Photonics is the sole source and provider of the equipment with the specifications which the PDL 800-D laser driver and the LDH-D-C-485 laser head can provide. The laser driver and laser head is compatible with the existing PicoQuant MicroTime instrument which is currently being used in the lab. The primary focus of the protein folding research in the lab is measurement of single molecule trajectories of folding and unfolding using the PicoQuant MicroTime 200 single molecule fluorescence instrument. All of the work up to now have been carried out with two dyes, Alex Fluor 488 and 594 the numbers indicating the peak absorption wavelength. For FRET the excitation has been performed with a laser operating at 470mn. The new laser operating at 485 nm has several important advantages such as higher power, a wavelength that matched the dye maximal absorption and the ability of operating in both pulsed and cw modes. This is not a solicitation for competitive proposals. However, if any other interested party believes that it can meet the requirements it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient details to allow NIDDK to determine if the party can meet all of the foregoing requirements. Offers must also be accompanied by descriptive literature, warranties and/or other information that demonstrates that the offer meets all of the foregoing requirements. An original and one copy of the capability statements and related materials must be received in this contracting office by 3 p.m. EST on or before September 22, 2008. Please reference solicitation NIHDK2008138 on responses. Faxed and emailed capability statements are NOT acceptable. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. If you have any question regarding this announcement, please contact Tina Robinson via email: robinsti@mail.nih.gov. PLEASE NOTE: In order to receive an award, contractor must be registered and have valid certification in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) http://www.ccr.gov
