- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; a fixed price quotation is requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is NAMA-08-Q-0137 and is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-26 effective June 12, 2008. This is a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS 423430 with a size standard of 100 employees. BACKGROUND: The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) requires EMC storage technology and NARA executed a Brand Name justification [see FAR 6.302-1(c)] to permit procurement of Brand Name items only. The purpose is to provide an integrated and consolidated infrastructure to effectively support NARA's Archival Research Catalog (ARC) initiative, which involves the installation and deployment of the EMC SAN, which include EMC 300GB hard drives. The EMC Clariion CX500 SAN (Storage Area Network) is the fully redundant sub network of shared disk storage devices for the ARC replacement project. The EMC 300GB hard drives are essential to providing ensured continuity, manageability and service availability for ARC’s storage devices. Acquiring different brand hard drives would not be prudent as the products would not be compatible with the existing system and the goal of increasing the storage capacity of the SAN would not be met. Furthermore, any deviations would require stand alone support as they would not be covered by existing contracts/orders NARA has with EMC for support and maintenance for the Clariion CX500. Based on successful results from ARC functional testing, the National Archives and Records Administration desires the ability to include, as a solicitation requirement, the use of only EMC brand parts for the essential components of its SAN. Due to the fact that NARA has already invested in EMC Hardware and Technology, this investment will not require any additional vendor specific hardware or software training. NARA's IT Operations staff is already familiar with EMC Technology. The Government will not be responsible for any costs incurred in responding to this notice. REQUIREMENTS: This is a firm fixed price request and all delivery costs should be included in total estimated value. CLIN 0001 EMC 300GB FC HDD 10K 2GB; Mfg#: EMD-CX-2G10-300. Qty. 7 each. DELIVERY: Packaging must be in a manner that prevents damage to the hard drives during shipment. Delivery must be undertaken during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, unless mutually agreed upon by NARA and the Contractor. Delivery will be made to the following location: NARA - AII; 3301 METZEROTT RD, COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND 20740-6001 no later than 30 calendar days after award of order.
