Description
The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation, Fort Collins, Colorado, intends to enter into a single source contract with Perkin Elmer, Shelton, Connecticut, for the purchase of one Pyris 1 Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer (TGA) Lab Sys 23 Kit and with Standard Furnace (Pyris TGA Furnace Tube Cooling Kit). The TGA must be compatible witih a Government-owned Perkin Elmer Gas Chromatograph (GC) and FT-IR. The Perkin Elmer TGA has a unique top furnace design that is compatible with a Government-owned GC with no modifications to GC or TGA required for coupling. The TGA must be controllable and data analysis compatible with the Perkin Elmer Pyris software currently being used. The ability to work with small sample sizes of 1g or less and ability to detect changes of <0.5 microgram is required. The ability to operate accurately at -20C is required and even lower temperatures are preferred. The ability to calibrate temperature using both Curie Point Method and Melting Standards is required as well as the ability to operate the instrument and end run unattended (remove sample from furnace) is required. The Pyris software is currently used to operate Government-owned Differential Scanning Calorimeters and Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer and additional analyzers must operate using the same software for operations and data analysis compatibility. This software is proprietary and only available from Perkin Elmer. *Provide Qualification Statement by Close of Business September 16, 2008, if interested in procurement.
