Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR LARGE-AREAHIGH-QUANTUM-EFFICIENCY LINEAR-MODE AVALANCHE-PHOTODIODE FREE-SPACE OPTICAL RECEIVER FORUSE AT 1064 NM WAVELENGTH. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a writtenamendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to modify the following specifications:If the detector noise is the limiting factor (in contrast to the 3. trans-impedanceamplifier), the optical receiver delivered can be a subset of an array (e.g. a singlearray pixel - with a diameter smaller than 200 microns). The goal is to provide adeliverable receiver (or array element) that demonstrates a credible path to a fullreceiver with the above specifications. Ideally the receiver would be a single largedetector, but an array is acceptable if required.Deliverables:1. A study (minimum 5 pages) that provides a technical approach and plan (cost/schedule)for the development of a large-area high-quantum-efficiency linear-modeavalanche-photodiode free-space optical receiver for use at 1064 nm wavelength. 2. One large-area (or smaller area single array element), high-quantum-efficiencylinear-mode avalanche-photodiode free-space optical receiver for use at 1064 nmwavelength. Single hermetically-sealed package that includes detector, electricalamplifier and thermo-electric cooler (prefer TO-style package).Total Noise Equivalent Power in dark averaged over the 3 dB electrical bandwidth 100fW/Hz1/2 max. 10 fW/Hz1/2 max.The due date for receipt of offers is extended to September 9, 2008.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on August 21, 2008.
