Description
Request for Information (RFI)Automatic Identification System (AIS): 21 AUG, 2008. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN), Charleston, Code 56160 (Life Cycle Integration Branch), is seeking information on Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) AIS end-to-end solution (ship board system with antenna interfaced to base station with antenna) suitable for use on small boats with a base station on shore to receive and display their data on mapping software in a closed system. The shipboard system with antenna should be capable of: Class B AIS; Data encryption that is releasable; Operating on small, fast moving boats in environmentally unprotected locations on the open ocean; Transmitting on two (2) user pre-defined frequencies in the AIS VHF band (161-163 MHz); Operate on 12VDC power; Transmit power of at least 12.5 watts; No connections for changing static data; The base station with antenna should be capable of: Output data in RS422; Operate on 220VAC power; Receiving ship system data from at least 10NM; All information received will be treated as public knowledge and may be used in SPAWAR documentation; therefore, vendors should not submit proprietary information in response to this RFI. Specific information sought includes: 1. Company information, including name, address, URL. 2. Whether the company is a manufacturer or distributor. 3. A point of contact for follow-up information, and the point of contacts phone number and e-mail address. 4. Product name, pictures, features/description (data sheet). 5. Cost and delivery information such as purchase price, terms of sale and delivery time ARO. 6. Statement describing any release constraints of hardware and software. The submitted information will be evaluated for inclusion in SPAWAR projects and reports. Determination as to an individual products suitability will be made by SPAWARSYSCEN Charleston based on the objectives of this request. Vendors may be contacted following submission for more detailed product information. Vendor provided information may be reformatted for publication in SPAWAR documents. Submittals: Respondents are required to answer all 6 questions and return by e-mail to matt.drobnik@navy.mil by 4:00 pm EST on 12 SEP, 2008. The technical point of contact is Mr. Matthew Drobnik, matt.drobnik@navy.mil. This RFI is for information gathering and planning purposes only, and should not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or solicitation of an offer. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. Submission of vendor information constitutes consent to publication of that information in SPAWAR documentation.
