- This application is restricted to American Science & Engineering, Inc. (AS&E), 829 Middlesex Turnpike, Billerica, MA 01821. Offers from concerns other than the above are not solicited. This synopsis is published for subcontracting purposes only. The Tank Automotive and Armaments Command of the US Army has requirements to provide comprehensive maintenance, sustainment, and training for Z-Backscatter Vans (ZBV) and Ruggedized Detection and Imaging Modules (RDIM) located in Southwest Asia (SWA)for a 3-year period starting in September of 2008. The ZBV and RDIM are used to inspect other vehicles and shipping containers for possible contraband, unauthorized personnel or explosives. The process of inspection involves the use of X-ray inspection methods. The Mercedes Benz chassis that carries the inspection equipment is also included in the maintenance plan and the source sought will be responsible for acquiring and providing the necessary spare parts and consumables required for routine preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs due to break down for the chassis as well as for the inspection devices and systems. The ZBV are scattered throughout SWA and movement from one location to another may require armed security escorts. The requiring agency is not in a position to provide technical details regarding either the chassis or its inspections system. This solicitation will not be issued electronically.
