Description
The Department of Health and Human Services, Program Support Center, Division of Acquisition Management on behalf of the Indian Health Service (IHS) intends to negotiate and award a sole-source simplified acquisition to the American Medical Association, 515 North State Street, Chicago, IL, 60610. This acquisition is for Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) licensing for 7000 users for use by IHS in each instance of the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS). The Indian Health Service (IHS) uses the CPT code set in its distributed health information system, the RPMS. Using CPT codes is essential to its clinical applications and to its practice management applications. CPT codes are recognized in the industry as standard for codifying medical procedures. The vast majority of third party insurance providers require CPT codes on all claims. The AMA holds copyright on CPT and use or reprinting of CPT in any product or publication requires a license from the AMA. This acquisition is being conducted on a sole-source basis because American Medical Association is the sole-source of CPT codes. This simplified acquisition is for a product for which the Government intends to negotiate with only one source. Interested concerns may identify their interest in and capability to satisfy the requirement within 15 days after the date of publication of this notice. Capability statements may be submitted to Anthony Webb, Room 5-101, Parklawn Building, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20857, or via email at awebb@psc.gov. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
