Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Weather Service (NWS), is in need of a Contractor that can perform snow removal when two (2) or more inches of snow falls, or upon request at the Weather Forecast Office (WFO) located at 112 Airpark Drive South, Negaunee, MI 49866. DESCRIPTION: The Contractor shall perform snow removal when two (2) or more inches of snow falls or upon request of the Government at the WFO Negaunee, MI for the base period of November 1, 2008 through October 31, 2009 with four 12 month option periods. When requested the snow removal shall be performed within two hours of the request. Snow removal will include: 1) Prior to the snow removal season, the contractor shall propose a snow removal plan including staking of the parking lot and access road. Staking is for the protection of the landscaping and sprinkler system; 2) The parking lot of the main facility, including entrance drive and all paved surfaces, the road to the radar complex, excluding the locations where vehicles are parked at the time when work is performed. If contractor is requested to come and plow, NWS will request parked vehicles be moved to plowed areas to allow thorough snow removal; 3) The sidewalks to all entry ways of the building. Also, the sidewalk to the instrument equipment and to the storage/generator building; 4) Once snow has been removed from designated sidewalks and around all exterior doors, the Contractor will apply an application of ice melting granules that will not kill grass and/or shrubs or damage concrete and asphalt surfaces; 5) The snow will be plowed to allow trash removal vehicles access to the trash dumpster; 6) Plowing of the access road by the following times: 6:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 9:30 p.m.; 7) Application of salt and/or sand on the parking lot or access road will be at the discretion of the MIC at a pre-determined addition al cost. Any business capable of completing this project is encouraged to respond to this announcement within 10 calendar days after publication of this notice. The NAICS code for this action is 561730. This service is being procured under the guidelines of FAR Part 12, Commercial Acquisition Procedures. The Central Region Acquisitions Division requires that all contractors doing business with the Acquisition Office must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR).
