- Under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Part 13, Subpart 13.601-1, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Minneapolis VA Medical Center, intends to contract with Research Diets, Inc., on a sole source basis. This acquisition is being conducted using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13, and is for the purchase of the RAT - Custom modified cage with accessories, sensors, software and license for the Research Department. The components from Research Diets, Inc. will allow 24/7 monitoring of an animal's food intake, without the need to disturb the animal to measure food consumption at any give point in time. This synopsis is not to be considered a request for quotations or proposals. No solicitation document is available and telephone request will not be honored. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but offers will be used to determine if a comparable source is available and more advantageous to the government. A determination by the Government to not compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. The NAICS code 311119 and business size is 500 employees or less. If no affirmative written response is received within seven (7) days from the publication of this synopsis, a contract may be issued to Research Diets, Inc.
