- Two farm ponds, lacated in the western portion of the Chancellorsville battlefield unit of Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park, located north of Plank Road, SR 3 Spotsylvania county, Virginia are proposed to be deactivated and returned to a more natural and cultural setting. The dam deactivation will be accomplished by lowering both dams, with the resultant spoils being relocated to another location on site. The culvert will be retined in the bottom of the existing dam of pond 1 to provide vedicle assess to the other side to the stream other the dams have been lowered. The two (2) ponds denoted as Ashton Pond 1 (approximately 0.7 acre) and Ashton Pond 2 (approximately 1.6 acre)are the target of this deactivation project. These ponds are adjacent to each other.
