- This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District’s imminent issue of an Invitation for Bids to obtain construction services for the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, Electrical Fish Barrier II Alpha, Romeoville, IL, PROJECT INFORMATION: The Contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary equipment, facilities, and materials to install approximately 3,500 ft. of permanent fence with several gates. In addition, the Contractor will be responsible for site preparation by clearing and grubbing the entire work area in order to prepare it for future construction contracts. ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is RESTRICTED to HubZone Small Business Concerns. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 238910 with a small business size standard of $13.0M. The magnitude of cost for this construction project is estimated between $250K and $500K. The Invitation for Bids (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interested Bidders can download the IFB Package from the Internet Site http://www.fedteds.gov. The IFB will be available at the above-mentioned Internet site on 26 August 2008. The due date for bids will be on 25 September 2008 at 2:00 pm CDT. In order for contractors to conduct business with the Department of Defense, the contractor must provide registration information to the Central Contractor Registration (CCR). Contractors can access the CCR for free at http//www.ccr.gov. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price construction contract from this acquisition.
