- NASA/JSC has an immediate requirement for AutoSlice and View, and ResolveRTsoftware packages. These software packages are required for the enhancement of thecurrent JSC Quanta FEG 3D Focused Ion Beam (FIB), tool previously purchased from FEICompany. NASA/JSC intends to purchase these software enhancements directly from the manufacturer,FEI Company, Hillsboro, OR. It is understood FEI has developed these proprietary softwarepackages specifically for the FIB tool and are available only through the manufacturer. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon the above-specified date. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solelyfor the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on acompetitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed efforton a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solelywithin the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. Communications are tobe sent to the posted e-mail address for the Contracting Officer.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
