Description
NASA/ARC has a requirement for a three-axis, ultra-high vacuum (UHV) compatiblepiezoelectric scanning stage system with an electronic controller and a customizedLabVIEW software interface for the development on a miniature-scanning electronmicroscope (m-SEM).NASA/ARC intends to purchase the items from nPoint, 1617 Sherman Ave., Madison, WI,53704.The vendor must provide the following:I. HARDWARE: Three-axis, ultra-high vacuum (<10-8 Torr) compatible piezoelectric scanning stageto provide scanning capabilities of the m-SEMs optical column for image formation. UHVcompatibility is required since the m-SEM will be operated at very low pressures. Controller unit for stage position manipulation and detection.II. SOFTWARE: Custom LabVIEW interface for driving the controller and therefore the scanning stage. A LabVIEW interface is necessary for system integration since the other components ofthe m-SEM, including the secondary electron detector system and the image processing, will be driven by this software. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to Rachel Jandron at Rachel.A.Jandron@nasa.gov no later than 4:30 p.m.local time on September 5, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluatedsolely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on acompetitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed efforton a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solelywithin the discretion of the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
