Description
Concerns having the ability to furnish the equipment described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 10 calendar days from the date of this announcement. The Texas Water Science Center (TWSC) collects borehole geophysical data for several projects within the center and other centers throughout central region. The TWSC recently procured a borehole Mount Sopris Matrix geophysical logging data acquisition console from Mount Sopris Instruments. The TWSC's borehole imaging project work is mainly focused on carbonate geologic data collection and recently several projects have the need for unsaturated geologic data collection that borehold imaging in an air-filled borehole, to complement coring operations, interpret evnironments of deposition, characterize fracture and fault systems, and quantify this bed attributes. The ALT OBI Optical Televiewer has the ability to perform these tasks well in small diameter air-filled boreholes present in Texas and Central Region because of it's very small diameter (1.6") and very high resolution 360 degrees RGP (24 bit) optical imagery in 2.365 to 11.8" diameter boreholes. The TWSC needs this ability to obtain high resolution imagery in both air-filled and water-filled open boreholes with greater resolution that an acoustic borehold teleview can provide. All equipment must be totally capable and operate with the existing Mount Sporis Matrix data acquisition system. Based on information at this time, the government considers this equipment as a sole source from Mount Sopris Instruments and proposes to negotiate a contract with the firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required equipment are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Governments only official notice of this procurement.
