Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Radiation Biology Branch (RBB) plans to procure the brand Tomco Technologies Amplifier for Pulsed EPR System from Tomco Technologies; 17 Clarke Street; Norwood S.A. 5067, Australia. The services herein are being procured in accordance with the simplified acquisition procedures authorized by FAR Part 13.106-1 (b) (1). The North American Industry Classification System Code is 334516 the business size standard is 500 employees. The purpose of the Radiation Biology Branch is to investigate various ways of imaging tumors with regards to the measurement of vital process to help us develop various treatment strategies. The NCI is currently seeking methods of measuring oxygen concentrations in tumors and normal tissue. The FT EPR project is developing a new technique which would allow the ability to measure the complete oxygen map of a tumor and its surrounding normal tissue. The Radiation Biology Branch has improved techniques to a point where a new and more powerful amplifier will advance imaging achievements, and to increase the sensitivity and speed of collection to detect our probe compound in mice. The Salient characteristics of the Tomco Technologies Amplifier are: 1.Must have wide bandwidth (250 MHz – 750 MHz) power Amplifier of 2.5 Kilo Watts with less rise and fall time. 2.The rise and fall time must be 20 nSec, for this higher Wattage. 3.The pre gate Blanking Pulses reduces the system. 4. The unit must be compatible with existing equipment Tomco Technologies is the only known supplier of the Amplifier meeting these characteristics. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party believes it can perform the requirement as detailed they may submit a statement of capabilities. All information furnished shall be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if it can meet the above unique specifications described herein. An original and one copy of the capability statement must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 pm EDT, on September 3, 2008. All questions must be in writing and must be emailed to Melissa Marino at marinome@mail.nih.gov faxed to (301) 402-4513. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. In order to receive an award from the NCI contractors must be registered in the Online Representations and Certifications Applications (ORCA).
