Description
The Social Security Administration, Region II, requires a contractor for the Replacement of Evaporators and Condensers for walk-in refrigerators and freezer at the cafeteria in the Joseph P. Addabbo Federal Building, located at 155-10 Jamaica Avenue Jamaica N.Y. 11432. The Following are the existing units to be replaced: Freezer Condenser Unit- Manufacture Bohn Model: DSL 3L 5FC57 Evaporator Unit-Manufacture Bohn Model MPE 1401F Walk-Thru Condenser Unit- Manufacture Bohn Model DS1 5H1EC34 Evaporator Unit Bohn Model ADT 1300F Veg Box Condenser Unit- Manufacture Bohn Model DS1 5H1EC34 Evaporator Unit Bohn Model ADT 1300F Can Room Condenser Unit- Manufacture Bohn Model DS3 4H1EC34 Evaporator Unit- Manufacture Bohn Model ADT 0520F A partial description of the requirements is as follows: All refrigerants must be recovered and recycled in accordance with EPA requirements. They must be pumped down, extracted from the equipment, stored in an approved container, in accordance with the procedures outlined at: www.epa.gov/Ozone/title6/608/608fact.htm1#disposal. Once the refrigerant is removed from a system, the removal of the refrigeration equipment and all its related equipment can be accomplished. This equipment must be disposed of off site in an approved manner that will meet all local codes. The contractor should provide commercial solid door refrigerators and freezers equivalent in size and performance to those that are removed and that earn the ENERGY STAR and meet the ENERGY STAR specifications for energy efficiency as outlined below. The vendor is encouraged to visit www.energystar.gov for complete product specifications and an updated list of qualifying products. Product Type Current Criteria (Energy Consumption Under Test Conditions) Refrigerators ≤ 0.10 V + 2.04 kW-hours/day Freezers ≤ 0.40 V + 1.38 kW-hours/day Refrigerator-Freezers ≤ 0.27 AV - 0.71 kW-hours/day Ice Cream Freezers ≤ 0.39 V + 0.82 kW-hours/day V = Internal volume in ft3 AV = Adjusted volume = (1.63 x freezer volume in ft3) + refrigerator volume in ft3 The contractor is responsible for determining the capacity of the equipment required to refrigerate the three (3) walk-in boxes and one walk-in freezer. The equipment must maintain 10.1 degrees @ 0.90 % RH in the refrigerators and minus 10 degrees @ 0.90 % RH in the freezer. The replacement of all entrance door gaskets, de-icing heaters and their controls for the four (4) refrigeration units is required. This will also ensure an efficient operation of the equipment. The contractor shall provide and install new florescent low temperature energy efficient lighting to replace the existing lighting in the four (4) refrigerated boxes. These new fixtures and their components must be approved for installation in refrigerators and freezers by NFPA 70 and local health codes. The Request for Quotation containing the full Statement of Work and all provisions is expected to be issued on approximately August 19, 2008 and may be downloaded at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. Prospective quoters will be afforded a site visit, the date for which will be contained in the solicitation. This is a total small business set aside, conducted under FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The NAICS code is 423740 with a size standard of 500 employees.
