Description
The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment as needed to replace roofing on historic structures located within Point Reyes National Seashore (PRNS), Marin County, CA. Work will include the removal and disposal of existing wood shingles and flashing from the D-Ranch Hay Barn. The PRNS Historic Preservation Crew (HPC) will make necessary repairs to the rafters and sheathing and the contractor will follow and install new cedar shingles, copper flashing and ridge boards. This roof is being reroofed one half at a time (one half of the roof (East Side) was replaced last year). This project replaces the remaining half of the roof (West Side). The D-Ranch roof is approx 4,000 SF and the reveal on the shingles is 4-1/2". Two other structures, the Home Ranch Wood Shed (approx 455 SF), Home Ranch Pig Barn (approx 1,302 SF), and Home Ranch Granary (approx 740 SF) will require removal and disposal of corrugated metal roofing. The PRNS HPC will make necessary repairs to the rafters and nailers and the contractor will follow with installation of new corrugated metal roofing upon completion. The project range is estimated between $25K-$100K. Project work can begin upon receipt of a Notice to Proceed and is expected to be completed within 6 months thereafter. Award selection will be based on a best value determination after considering cost and factors other than cost, such as the contractor's experience installing cedar shingle and/or corrugated metal roofing on buildings listed on or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The Request for Quotations will be made available for electronic commerce only and can be accessed on/after August 15, 2008 at http://www.fbo.gov or directly through the DOI National Business Center site at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. The contractor is responsible for periodically checking the website for any Amendments that may be issued prior to the closing date of the RFQ. This acquisition is unrestricted and is being pursued under full and open competition procedures. The NPS welcomes the participation of small, minority, women, and disabled veteran owned business enterprises capable of performing this type of project. Interested parties may explore the Point Reyes National Seashore website to acquaint themselves with the general area or view park maps, if desired, at http://www.nps.gov/PORE.
