Description
Title: Data analysis to assess duration of chlamydia infection and sequelae The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for HIV, Hepatitis, STD, and Tuberculosis Prevention intends to award a sole source contract under Simplified Acquisition procedures to Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of Infectious Disease, 545 N. Barnhill Drive Indianapolis, IN 46202, the only source that has access to prior data required to perform this contract. In April 2008, the Division of STD Prevention convened the Chlamydia Immunology and Control Expert Advisory Meeting to establish research priorities related to chlamydia natural history that would help guide chlamydia control programs. One of those priorities was to establish better quantitative estimates of the risk of complications of untreated genital chlamydia infections and the timing of those complications. During the Expert Advisory Meeting, it became apparent that researchers at Indiana University have already identified a large cohort of women who have been tested for chlamydia together with documented treatment information through an existing, well-established electronic medical record system, the Regenstrief Medical Record System (RMRS). This effort has given them a unique opportunity to assess the relationship between chlamydia, its treatment and its sequelae such as ectopic pregnancy, to allow them to address this gap in knowledge. The purpose of this action is to secure the services of the Indiana University School of Medicine (1) to extract data to develop an observational cohort of women with documented pregnancy from the RMRS to determine incidence rates of ectopic pregnancy by chlamydia test status, (2) to assess the potential association between the presence or timeliness of chlamydia treatment (i.e., the duration of untreated infection) and ectopic pregnancy, and (3) prepare a manuscript. The period of performance is no more than 12 months from date of award. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on response to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The NAICS code is 541712. Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR). Contractors may register by calling 1-888-227-2423 or register via the Internet at www.ccr.gov. Registration Notification of any changes shall be made only through FedBizOpps, http://ww.fedbizopps.gov. Capability statements may only be faxed to (404) 639-8095, ATTN: Ms. Johnson or emailed to chj5@cdc.gov. The date specified for receipt is August 22, 2008, 9:00 a.m. EST.
