Description
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposes to develop magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology to diagnosis and treat clinical conditions in children. This program will be a new initiative undertaken in collaboration with an academic pediatric medical institution in the Washington, D.C. area. The geographic specificity allows patient treatment at NIH as well as the contractor's facilities. The successful contractor will be a healthcare facility with strong competencies in pediatric cardiac surgery, pediatric interventional cardiology and multi-modality pediatric imaging clinical and training programs. Parties interested in submitting a capability statement for this acquisition should demonstrate expertise in: (1)the day to day management of a clinical MRI diagnosis and treatment program in children (2)providing high priority access to appropriate patients (children) for research protocol consideration (3)Providing a MRI facility directly adjoining and capable of interfacing with a conventional bi-plane X-ray interventional suite. (4)Providing support for medical records, archiving of medical images and scheduling (5)Working to develop collaborative clinical protocols in the application of MRI to the diagnosis and treatment of clinical conditions in children. The Government anticipates that a single cost reimburseable contract will be awarded with performance commencing September, 2008 and expiring September, 2013.
