Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command, Program Manager for Ammunition, Quantico, Virginia, intends to modify current 66mm Signaling Smoke Grenade contract M67854-06-D-1020, to include additional qualification tests. Testing and data are required for the following qualification tests: Impact Sensitivity, Electrostatic Sensitivity; Ignition temperature; Vacuum Stability; Aging Properties for Subcomponents; Cap Test; Thermal Stability; Thermal Characterization / Self Heating; and Friction Sensitivity. Total modification value is $171,751. The contractor is Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions GmbH, Niederlassung Buck Neuenburg, Hans-Buck-Strabe 1, D-79395, Neuenburg, Baden, Germany. Rheinmetall received the original competitive award, M67854-06-D-1027, for 66mm Signaling Smoke Grenade which is currently in the qualification phase of the contract. Rheinmetall has the materials, components, qualification test units, and test facilities to conduct all tests, and is deemed qualified to conduct all tests. The estimated award / contract modification date is 14 August 2008. Testing will start immediately upon award, and delivery of all data will be complete no later than ten (10) weeks after date of award. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 332993. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to meet the requirements by submitting a white paper and past performance data no late than 15 August 2008, to Commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, Attn: Code PMM 2041, 2200 Lester St., Quantico, VA, 22134, and email Laurel.Baker@usmc.mil. Responses received by 15 August 2008 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open basis is solely within the discretion of the Government. All contractors who provide good / services to the DoD must be registered in the Central Contractor register (CCR.) Online Certifications and Representations at (ORCA), http://orce.bpn.gov, will also be required. Failure to comply with ORCA registration may make a vendor offeror ineligible for award.
