Description
-- There were no responses to the original synopsis. N68335-08-R-0217 will be re-synopsized with a closing date of August 15, 2008 -- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, NJ intends to conduct a 100,000 cycle hydraulic fatigue testing of a Mark 7 Mod 3 Arresting Gear Main Engine Cylinder (MEC), part number 51-50865-1. This procurement shall be a 100% Small Business Set Aside. The requirement is as follows: Fatigue test to approximately follow a pressure profile. Profile will be provided upon contract award, but generally can be described as a pressure rise from zero to 11,000 psi, back to zero psi in under 30 seconds. Testing will continue until 100,000 cycles are reached or cylinder fails. Failure will be defined as rupture of the cylinder or crack length of 1.00 inch is reached. Hydraulic fluid used for the cylinder is ethylene glycol, but any suitable fluid compatible with the testing apparatus may be used. Test fluid shall be indicated in the Test Plan. Cylinder shall be strain gaged in the vicinity of the four (4) vent holes. Location shall be indicated in the Test Plan. Strain gage measurements shall be recorded throughout the test. Cylinder hydraulic test pressure shall be recorded throughout the test. A method to determine crack initiation and crack growth shall be employed. Crack is analytically predicted to initiate in the vent holes. Determination of crack initiation shall be with a precision of 5000 cycles or less. Method and measurement technique shall be indicated in the Test Plan. The 100,000 cycle testing shall not take longer than 90 days from test initiation. The Navy shall have the right to witness the test set-up and actual testing. All contractors seeking award must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Database. For CCR information, contact the CCR Registration Assistance Center (RAC) at 888-227-2423 or for CCR Registration at http://www.ccr.dlis.dla.mil.
