- Description of Work- This solicitation and any resultant contract is a stewardship project in accordance with Section 323 of Public Law 108-7 (16 U.S.C. 2104 Note, as revised February 28, 2003 to reflect sec. 323 of J.J. Res. 2 as enrolled), the Consolidated Appropriations Resolution, 2003, amending Public Law 105-277, sec. 347. This is a commercial item acquisition that has been tailored to fit the Government’s method of trading goods for services. Approximately 950 acres in 6 bid items will be treated with a combination of thinning and removal of commercial sawlogs, thinning and removal of biomass/slash treatment, brush cutting, road maintenance, machine piling, and mastication. Treatment areas consist of ponderosa pine plantations and natural stands. Thinning will be accomplished through cutting of individually designated trees. Reduction of hazardous fuels will be accomplished by the removal and/or treatment of thinned trees and slash. Project Location - The project area is situated approximately 3 miles north of Pollock Pines, Ca in the vicinity of Poho Ridge and Brush Creek. The legal location is: sections 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, & 15, Township (T) 11 North (N), Range (R) 12 East (E) Mount Diablo Base and Meridian (MDB&M); section 35, T12N, R12E MDB&M; All treatment areas are between elevations of approximately 3200 and 4400 feet. Work unit boundaries are delineated on the ground with three horizontal yellow paint stripes on trees facing into the unit and/or blue flagging.
