Description
Western Area Power Administration Corporate Services Office (CSO)intends to award a sole source purchase order to Sun Microsystems, San Francisco, CA. The objective of this effort is Sun Gold Support for StorageTek (STK) robotic tape libraries maintenance, patches, hardware replacements, and firmware updates. The places of performance are Lakewood, CO, Golden, CO, and Washington D.C. Western Area Power Administrations CSO has determined that Sun Microsystems is the only firm capable of providing the related services and products, which are proprietary to STK (now owned by Sun Microsystems). The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 334111 with a size standard of 1000 employees. Accordingly, the CSO intends to conduct this sole source procurement under authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), and no other sources will be considered. A public solicitation will not be available. This notice satisfies the requirement of FAR Part 5 for publicizing contract opportunities. Firms wishing to challenge the sole-source decision must submit a letter of interest, referencing No. DE-RQ65-08WA39419, to the CSO demonstrating the firms ability to provide the support as described above. Firms shall also indicate whether or not they are a small business, small business women-owned, small disadvantaged business, or and 8(a) small business concern. Interested parties must provide rationale, including pricing, why they should be considered. Any questions or comments pertaining to this action shall be faxed to (720) 962-7161, Attn: Debra McCraw, Contract Specialist, no later than August 5, 2008. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A REQUEST FOR A FORMAL PROPOSAL OR A PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE. This notice is provided as information to the marketplace in accordance with FAR Part 5. All feedback received will be taken into consideration; however, the agency reserves the right to not utilize the comments or any other information provided. This notice, in no way, obligates the Government to award a contract. Western Area Power Administrations CSO will not be responsible for any costs incurred by responding to this Notice.
