- The Department of Veterans Affairs Maryland Health Care System intends to award a Sole Source contract to the University of Pittsburgh, PA (Dr. Julie Eiseman, Ph.D.)for the overall conduct of animal portion of the studies proposed and the supervision of the animal technician/research assistant.Oversight of Animal Facility Monitors the health of animal in facility Complete and verify protocol documentation. Consulate principal investigator on protocols development experimental techniques. Service Management and Professional Issues Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues. Demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills. Demonstrate appropriate social skills. Demonstrate ability to follow direction Respond to study research data appropriate information as related to animal care or compliance issues. Supervisory Controls: This is not a personal services contract. The Co-Investigator oversees the Animal Facility, monitors and provides guidance to the policies and procedures as defined by the USDA, PHS and as in the VA AAALAC program description. Qualification: See VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix F32
