Description

The U.S. Maritime Administration intends to acquire on a Sole Source basis from Wartsila-Lips, Inc., 3617 Koppens Way, Chesapeake, VA 23323-3253 the purchase and installation of a main shaft stern tube seal for the T/S STATE OF MAINE. Originally manufactured by Waukesa, Wartsila-Lips, Inc., holds the successor rights to this equipment and is the equivalent of the OEM for procurement purposes of this proprietary item. No other manufacturer makes this specific component, and the government does not possess the technical data necessary to permit another manufacturer to develop a comparable component. This notice is not a request for proposals/quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to satisfy the Government's requirements by emailing their capability statement (CS) or faxing their CS to 757-441-6080 by 25 July 2008. Capability statements must include documentation establishing the ability to satisfy the Government's requirements. Any information received will be considered for the purpose of conducting a competitive procurement. Interested persons should identify their interest and capability to the Contracting Officer.
