- This project will document groves of culturally-modified cedar and evaluate their significance for addition to the National Park Service Ethnographic Resources Inventory (ERI). The cedar, some of which are over 200 years in age, bear scars and toolmarks from what is believed to be Ojibwe bark harvesting activity that occurred possibly over a century ago. The project will complement archaeological and botanical investigations on the Grand Portage National Monument, which seek to document forest stand age, fire history, flora, and cultural usage. The project will result in new data for the ERI, as well as source data for resource management, interpretation (if appropriate) and possible eventual nomination of the cedar groves to the National Register of Historic Places to guide future use and protection of this area. All work under this contract must be completed by 5/30/2010. This contract is reserved for small business concerns only. The NAICS code for this contract is 541990-All Other Professional, Scientific and Technical Services. To qualify for this contract, Contractors shall have an annual revenue no greater than $6.5 million. The magnitude of this contract is "ethnographic special study of culturally modified cedar" and the estimated price range is "less than $25,000". Contractors submitting quotes must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration at www.ccr.gov and at the On-Line Representations and Certifications at www.orca.bpn.gov.
