Description
The government is seeking sources to for the procurement and installation of ballistic protection for target mechanisms on the High Risk Personnel (HRP) Course ranges at MCB Quantico Virginia. The existing structures are constructed of wood, steel and railroad ties and have been in place for several years. All existing protective structures are worn and have outlived their useful service life and must be removed and replaced. The contractor will be required to remove the existing wooden protective wall and install a protective wall made of ballistic rubber blocks or like material on Bay 2 to protect the target mechanisms. Two walls three feet high and approximately 45 feet in length with a thickness necessary to defeat service rifle, 7.62mm and below, and pistol,.45 caliber ammunition and below are required. Machine guns will not be used on this range. The walls must be free standing and have no ricochet producing materials on the facing surfaces. Steel backing is not required on these two walls. On Bay 3, the contractor will be required to remove existing wooden protective structures and install three free-standing protective walls made of ballistic rubber blocks backed with 3/8 AR 500 steel. The purpose of the protective walls is to prevent damage to target mechanisms already installed on the range. The replacement protective walls will need to be of a thickness to be able to defeat ammunition from weapons of 7.62 service rifle and below and service pistol of.45 caliber and below. No machine guns will be used on this range. The first required ballistic wall will be an L shaped wall 50 inches wide at the base and 64 inches tall on the left side. The tall part of the L will be 25 inches wide. The short part of the L will be 36 inches tall and 25 inches wide. The second wall will be a rectangle 180 inches at the base and 48 inches tall. The third ballistic wall will be of an inverted T shape 90 inches wide along the base. The left side of the T will be 34 inches tall and 35 inches wide. The right side of the T will be 34 inches tall and 25 inches wide. The center of the T will be 64 inches tall and 30 inches wide. The fourth wall will be a rectangle 50 inches at the base and 64 inches tall. No ricochet producing materials may be exposed to the front of the free-standing protective walls. The award will be approximately $45,000 with an anticipated delivery date of 90 days after contract award. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. It should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the US Government to issue a solicitation. Any information provided to the Government in response to this RFI will become USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. Written response is requested within 15 days after publication of this notice.
