Description
This announcement constitutes a sources sought synopsis for written information only. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this announcement. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Norfolk, Virginia and the Naval Ophthalmic Support & Training Activity (NOSTRA) are seeking information for planning purposesto identify companies that specialize in an interactive inventory sorting application that uses light. NOSTRA will assess the companys responsiveness to the sources sought synopsis and review the information in the submittal. NOSTRA will review the data submitted and assess the companys demonstrated knowledge of how the company plans to build the Put-to-Light system. NOSTRA will assess the companys ability to perform the scope of services as demonstrated by the information submitted. The company should demonstrate its ability to build the proposed Put-to-Light system. The availability of personnel, equipment, and other resources needed to successfully complete this project should be addressed. The company should also include any similar systems previously designed and built to demonstrate expertise.NOSTRA would like to have the capability to sort completed eye glasses orders from clinics to said accounts more quickly and accurately. The system should have the ability to display a light that corresponds to various clinic accounts. As the bar code is read on the completed order, a light would illuminate to designate the appropriate bin to place the order(s). The application should be able to provide status of the order once received into the mailroom for sorting. The system should be able to support both bar code and RFID tags. The system should be easy to implement, modify, and prove easy to train for those employees that may be limited by physical disabilities. The sections that follow will provide an overview of the system in general as well as by operating mode. The system should be designed so that once a light is displayed it will stay lighted until a user or administrator acknowledges the order has been placed inside the mailbox, at which point; the system will update and continue to operate. All of the components and parts should be freestanding mounted neatly. Emphasis should be made to make sure that the system is ADA compliant to accommodate NOSTRAs deaf and hard-of-hearing personnel. All additional components needed should be mounted to fit and provide a clean fit and finish to the whole project. The equipment should not be negatively affected by being in a factory setting with polish dust and other fine particles from the manufacturing processes. The cost proposal shall be broken down in a straight forward manner listing all the equipment and its price to make the project operational. The contractor shall provide price information for installation, outside contract labor, programming fees, 1 2 year warranty on equipment, installation, and support. Responses to the sources sought synopsis should be e-mailed to both Ron Meck ron.meck@med.navy.mil (757) 887-4630 and Deedie Weaver deedie.weaver@med.navy.mil (757) 887-7541, This is not a request for proposal. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
