- SYNOPSIS/PRESOLICITATION NOTICE PROJECT TITLE: Variable Magnetic Field Variable Temperature Platform for Nanoscale Spintronic Device Research LOCATION OF WORK: 325 Broadway, Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado ESTIMATED PRICE RANGE: Between $150,000.00 and $190,000.00 NAICS CODE: 423490, Other Professional Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers, Size Standard in number of employees 100 SET-ASIDE STATUS: Award is restricted to small business (or other specific category of small business as appropriate, for example, HUBZone). All responsible small businesses may submit a proposal which will be considered. Proposals from large business will not be considered. DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), seeks a qualified contractor to construct a variable-magnetic-field variable-temperature platform for nanoscale spintronics device research. The system should include an integrated magnet, Dewar, variable temperature cryostat, magnetic power supply, temperature controller, and all necessary to monitor and set the magnetic field and temperature. All components must be computer-controllable and the system must be able to demonstrate reliable setting of the magnetic field and temperature under computer control. The system must use either a cryogen free or a liquid-helium recondensing Dewar. The system needs to have low vibration at the sample location. The system needs to be able to accommodate a NIST-developed vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) or allow for a commercial VSM add on.
