- ***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with SEMTech Solutions, in Natick, MA 01760 for the services to repair and upgrade our Scanning Electron Microscope which is an AMRAY Model 1100. *** *** This is a sole source requirement based on the fact that the AMRAY 1100 Scanning Electron Microscope currently in use within the Manufacturing Process Metrology Group here at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland was purchased about 25 years ago and the original equipment manufacturer, AMRAY, is no longer in business and SEMtech Solutions, Inc. is the only known service provider for the AMRAY equipment. The SEMtech Solutions technician has extensive knowledge of this instrument in particular, as they have serviced it for many years and are familiar with what is required to upgrade the equipment and have it working within the original equipment manufacturers operating levels.*** ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 90 days after receipt of an order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by July 23, 2008.*** ***A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.***
