- The 96th Contracting Squadron, Eglin AFB FL, requests information from potential sources on the availability of a lowboy type trailer for transporting a radar system. This sources sought is for a Range Instrumentation Radar (RIR) 980 Support Trailer. Description: A trailer is required to transport a radar system around the Eglin Test & Training Range. The radar will also operate from this trailer. The trailer (unloaded) should meet DOT standards. When the radar is on the trailer it should be able to climb moderate to extreme grades. The radar will only operate when the trailer is stationary, disconnected from its transport, and has been secured by its delivered support infrastructure. The design should meet these and the following requirements: Trailer: Digital Hydraulic Leveling: < 0.0001° Ability to record or export miss-level data Meets DOT Standards Environmental Protective Coating for coastal marine environment Supports to minimize movement while radar is in operation Maximize grades that trailer can ascend/descend Pintle Ring/Hook Connection Standard Electrical Connections Radar Specifications: Footprint: 8' x 7' Weight: 15,000 lbs. Lower Pedestal Weight: 4500 lbs w/center of mass 1.27' above base Upper Pedestal Weight: 6750 lbs w/center of mass 7.31' above base Estimated Antenna Weight: 400 lbs w/center of mass 13.08' above base Estimated Center of Gravity: 62.12" above base on z-axis through center of pedestal rotation Rotational Velocity Azimuth/Elevation: 56.25°/sec Rotational Acceleration Azimuth: 45°/sec Elevation: 28.125°/sec Moments of Inertia Azimuth: 3100 lb-ft-sec2 Elevation: 1120 lb-ft-sec2 Height of Rotation Azimuth: 30.5" Elevation: 81" The purpose of this sources sought notice is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources. This synopsis does not constitute an Invitation for Bid or Request for Proposal, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Responses to this notice must be received no later than 23 July 2008, 4:00 P.M. central time. Firms responding to this notice should state whether they are, or are not, a small business concern, a service-disabled veteran owned small business, or a HUBZone business concern as defined in FAR 52.219-1. The Air Force reserves the right to consider a small business set-aside based on responses hereto. The Government will neither award a contract solely on the basis of this Sources Sought Notice, nor will it reimburse the contractor for any costs associated with preparing or submitting a response to this notice.
