Description
This project consists of recreational trailhead parking improvements and revisions of the intersections with the Snohomish County Mountain Loop Highway for safety. The three trailhead parking areas where work is to be perfomed are at the Lake Twentytwo, the Perry Creek/MT. Dickerman, and the Monte Cristo Trail/Road. Work includes: construction staking, clearing & grubbing, removal of structures & obstructions, removal of old vault toilet, excavation & embankment, borrow excavation, culvert installations, crushed aggregate, barrier rocks, asphalt paving, ecology blocks, concrete wheel stops, information kiosks, highway signs, painted pavement markings, seeding & mulching, mobilization, and miscellaneous site work. Work at the Perry Creek/MT. Dickerman trail, and the Monte Cristo trail is usually only accessible (snow free) from May 1 through November 15 yearly. Work is anticipated to begin on September 8, 2008 and shall be completed by June 30, 2009. The Government’s estimated price is between $100,000 and $250.000. This project is 100% set aside for HubZone small business. From the town of Granite Falls, Washington, travel East on the Mountain Loop Highway (County Road #7). The Lake Twentytwo Trailhead is at approx. Milepost 13. The Perry Creek/MT. Dickerman Trailhead is at approx. Milepost 27. The Monte Cristo Trailhead near Barlow Pass is at approx. Milepost 31. Note: At Barlow Pass, Milpost 31, the Mountain Loop Highway then becomes Forest Service Road #20 and it is approx. 25 miles Northwest to the town of Darrington, Washington.
