- Description
- The Department of Commerce/National Institute of Standards and Technology intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a sole source basis with Hexagon Metrology Inc. North America, 250 Circuit Drive North Kingstown, RI 02852 USA, for the purchase of Quindos 6 Software license. This software is to be used on a recently acquired Moore M48 Coordinate Measuring Machine(CMM). Quindos is the only software that can be run on this machine, for the following reasons: The M48 already has a Leitz controller and this software is essentially an upgrade (the machine was previously run on Quindos 5). Furthermore, the NIST Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory already owns two other CMMs which run on Leitz controllers and Quindos 6 software license. It is essential that all three machines are run on identical systems for part program interchangeability. The Government intends to solicit only this one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) because the Government has not identified any other sources that can meet the requirements specified above. Interested concerns may identify their capabilities by submitting a capability statement that clearly and unambiguously demonstrates in written narrative format their ability to provide Quindos 6 Basic Software. Capability statements may be e-mailed to Barbara.Suhrie@nist.gov. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This notice is not a request for quotation. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government.
