Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland, intends to re-price Option Year IV of contract N00421-05-C-0110 in order to purchase additional quantities of 20mm Lightweight Gatling Gun Systems for the F/A-18E/F Aicraft. The original synopsis for this contract estimated that the Navy would procure 154 units over the five-year life of this contract. Based on the anticipated receipt of supplemental funding in the final option year, the Navy estimates a total procurement of 177 gun systems in support of domestic requirements over the life of this contract. Additionally, an anticipated quantity of 28 additional gun systems is now required for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) requirements for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). As such, Option Year IV of the existing contract will be restructured to increase the domestic requirement for gun systems and procure gun systems for the RAAF. The total number of gun systems estimated to be procured under this contract is now 205 units. This action will be negotiated on a sole source basis with General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products (GDATP), 128 Lakeside Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401-4985, based on the authority of FAR 6.302-1. GDATP is the only known company that currently possesses the facilities, engineering expertise and personnel necessary to perform this effort, and is considered the only source capable of providing delivery of these gun systems in the timeframe required by the Government and the RAAF. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. It is itended for information purposes only. The Government is not committed nor obligated to pay for the information provided and no basis for claims against the Government shall arise as a result of this synopsis.
