- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the NIST Office of Chief Information Officer, intends to negotiate with F5 Networks, Inc., Seattle, WA, on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Subsection 13.106-1(b), for the purchase of F5 Firepass Maintenance and Support Renewal for the period of 9/30/08 through 9/30/2009. Brand Name Justification: Existing F5 hardware and software are deployed on the operational NIST network infrastructure. Based on the recent market research, NIST believes that F5 Networks, Inc., is the only entity that can satisfy NIST’s requirement for the Annual Maintenance Renewal of F5 Firepass Premium Services. NIST anticipates negotiating and awarding a firm-fixed-price type purchase order to F5 Networks, Inc. for this requirement. Interested parties that are authorized by F5 Networks, Inc. to sell the aforementioned Firepass Premium Services may clearly and unambiguously identify their capability to do so in writing on or before the response date for this notice. Such written responses will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition.
