- TACOM LCMC proposes to negotiate and award, on a sole source basis to Northern Illinois University (NIU), of Dekalb, Illinois, to further refine the design of NIUs micro-machine and fabrication of a low-cost actuator system, tool-change system, tool point wear and break sensor, and the fabrication of its prototype micro stamping machine, as well as further research its method of laser heating of ceramic materials. This follow-on effort will continue the development started under contract W56HZV-C-04-C-0783, which supports the Rapid Optimization of Commercial Knowledge (ROCK) program and the Next Generation Manufacturing Technologies for Defense Supply Chain Program (NGMTDSC). The estimated dollar value is $5.3 Million. TACOM-Warren will negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 6-302.1 with Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, IL for this effort.
