Description
The Detroit VA Medical Center, 4646 John R Street, Detroit, MI 48201 intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Optical Analysis Corporation, Three Bud Way, Nashua, NH 03063-1700. The proposed contract action is for the purchase of an Olympus DSU System. The Olympus DSU system is an advanced laser-equipped microscopic imaging system that allows investigation of biological structure and function in living cells. It is particularly useful for detecting molecular interaction as they occur and as they change in response to disease conditions or drug treatments. Specifically required are: (1) non-point scanning, confocal image acquisition that allows rapid (10s of milliseconds) full frame, high resolution capture rates. (2) The microscope system must allow for automated independent control of excitation, beam splitter and emission pathways. (3) The system must include integrated software for microscope control, Image capture, ratio metric analysis (e.g. Fura2, BCECF) and FRET. (4) The system must be equipped with 300W xenon power source for Fura2 and FRET analysis, and a supplemental 473 laser line (with expansion option to 5 lasers) to boost excitation in the 488 nm range. (5) It must be equipped with a series of efficient, high NA objectives and (6) a deep cooled, high sensitivity CCD camera. (7) It must have a series of hard coated optical filters for imaging FITC, DAPI, Cherry, EYFP, ECFP, Cy5 and ECFP-EYFP FRET. This system must have DIC/bright-field capabilities and the system components must be fully integrated and installed and supported by a single supplier.
