Description
The VA Northern Indiana Health Care System is seeking the services of a qualified Architectural/Engineering (A/E) firm to provide all labor, material, equipment, and expert supervision necessary to design the following for the VA Medical Center located at Marion Indiana: The AE will need to develop the required paved bus/auto unloading area allowing convenient access to the west entrances of B-172. The existing sidewalks currently located there will need to be removed, the elevation changed as required for the busses to turn in off the drive from either direction and unload. The unloading area will need to be designed to allow for passenger vehicle parking around its perimeter, primarily for handicapped patient's vehicles. The 520 ft. long concrete drive leading to the north, will need to be altered to allow passing of buses etc. in opposing directions of travel by either adding increased width or possible complete replacement. Provision will need to be made for a revised drainage system along the drive and in the unloading areas and adjacent parking areas. Landscaping and a new system of side walks to other more distant parking areas will be required. The actual building entrances will need to be redesigned providing wider access to accommodate large size wheel chairs. The entrances will need to utilize oversized power operated doors and the immediate interior of the building will need to be revised to incorporate air locks with a second set of doors to reduce heat loss and discomfort of patients inside the atrium. Roadway signage and street marking shall be detailed on the designs as well. Interested firms are required to submit: two (2) copies of Standard Form (SF) 330 (available at http://www.gsa.gov/forms), Part 1 and Part 2 to VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Attn: Robert O. Nash (90C), 2121 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805, no later than 4:30 p.m. (Local Time), June 20, 2008. This requirement is set aside for emerging small business concerns. A/E Cost Range: under $25,000. Estimated Construction: $196,000.
