Description
This amendment is to clarify specifications under CLIN 0001, extend closing date to Friday, June 6, 2008, to extend date of delivery to begin no later than Monday, July 28, 2008 and to post answers to questions. CLIN 0001 is revised to read: CLIN 0001: Troop seating (Military benches) to carry students in 5-Ton Vehicles for the BOLC-II Course. Requirement: 120 units. Two units per 5-ton vehicle. 60 5-ton vehicles. Combined dimension will be 6 X 11. Each unit and supporting pieces shall meet the following specifications: Primary material may be aluminum or steel except for the base which will be steel. The following specifications for aluminum apply only to the structure and actual support of the benches the rectangle 72 inch x 66 inch base, also referred to as skid, shall be steel: MATERIALS / FINISHES A. Framework: 1. Aluminum: Structural fabrication with aluminum alloy 6061-T6. Each frame shall be unit-welded, using metal inert gas method, under guidelines by the American Welding Society. 2. Galvanized Steel: ASTM A36/A & A529/A. Each frame shall be unit-welded, under guidelines by the American Welding Society. After fabrication all steel is hot dipped galvanized to ASTM A 123 specifications. B. Seating and Back, Aluminum: 1. Seat planks: Aluminum alloy 6063-T6, clear anodized 204R1, AA-M10C22A31, Class II with a wall thickness nominally.078 inch for impact and deformation resistance. 2. Back Planks: Aluminum alloy 6063-T6, mill finis with a wall thickness nominally.078 inch for impact and deformation resistance. 3. Pipe: 1-5/8 OD schedule 40 aluminum alloy 6105-T5, clear anodized 204R1, AA-M10C22A31, Class II. C. Seating and Back, Steel: Design of MFR Choosing. 1. Galvanized Steel ASTM A36/A & A529/A. Each shall be unit-welded, under guidelines by the American Welding Society. After fabrication all steel is hot dipped galvanized to ASTM A 123 specifications if not powder coated or plastic dipped D. Accessories: Hardware: Bolts and Nuts shall be hot dipped galvanized. Finish will be powder coat, galvanize or plastic dip but must withstand heavy foot traffic. Finish color will be desert sand. Base of unit will be 72 inch X 66 inch rectangle constructed from 1 inch X 3 inch steel channel, open side down (hereafter referred to as the 'skid') 72 inch ends; 66 inch sides. Construct two (2) benches with seat and backrest but without armrests for each unit. Benches will be 66 inch long, 34 inch tall and 24 inch deep. The top of the seat will be approximately 17 inch from the base. Two benches will be attached to the top of each skid, back to back, allowing a 24 inch space between the two (2) seat-backs with the legs attached on the end of the skid. On each 72 inch side, a 13/16 inch diameter hole shall be drilled exactly 4 inch from each end and centered. The unit must align with four (4) pre-drilled holes in the floor of the 5-ton vehicles and shall be the same pattern on every bench set. Welded joints are preferred due to mobility with exception of mounting to the skids. Each unit shall not exceed 250 (recommended) lbs per unit 300 lbs maximum.. Cross-bracing shall be applied to account for: 1. Lateral forces from transporting Soldiers on a moving vehicle and 2. Repeated loading on and off of vehicle bed that is 60 inch high. Two (2) easily removable braces shall be provided with each unit to attach between the top of the seat- backs near the ends (within two inches) to provide stability when loading and unloading benches from the vehicles and for a safety rail for the personnel standing between the benches. Benches shall be durable enough to withstand repeated hard usage from Soldiers standing and walking on the seating surface while wearing field gear. Each Soldier (including field gear) will weigh between 170 and 300 lbs. Seat and backrest shall be constructed to preclude excessive damage to clothing and field gear from sliding across it. Bidders shall include specifications, pictures and/or drawings with submission of bids. Delivery shall begin no later than Monday, July 28, 2008.
