- The US Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) in Natick, MA, is conducting a market survey for technical information from US and/or foreign vendors for a range of capabilities to achieve a cost-effective, reliable, accurate method for measuring free stream air velocity around a guided airdrop system in flight. The desired characteristics for such a system are as follows: (1) Free stream relative airspeed - Indicated airspeed (Threshold), True airspeed (Objective); (2) Measurement Degrees of Freedom Magnitude (T), 3-D velocity vector (O); (3) Measurement accuracy of 2 feet/sec (T) to 1 foot/sec (O); (4) Payload orientation - Maintain accuracy at sideslip angles up to +/- 10 degrees (T), Maintain accuracy at sideslip angles up to +/- 15 degrees (O); (5) Weight limit of less than 5 pounds (T) to less than 2 pounds (O); (6) Volume limit of less than 0.5 ft3 (T) to less than 0.25 ft3 (O); (7) Thermal operating range of -30 deg. F 90 deg. F (T) to -40 deg. F 120 deg. F (O); (8) Shock tolerance of 10 G (T) to 20 G (O); (9) Operating altitude of less than or equal to 15,000 feet MSL (T) to less than or equal to 25,000 feet MSL (O); (10) Operating relative velocity of 15-45 feet/sec (T) to 10-70 feet/sec (O); (11) Unit cost (lots of 50) of $100 (T) to $50 (O); (12) Reusable 20 times (T) to 30 times (O). A non-developmental item (NDI) solution is preferred. Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside the U.S. Government. All interested US and/or foreign firms, regardless of size are encouraged to respond to this request for information. It should be noted that this is a market survey and not a pre-solicitation notice. A pre-solicitation may be published if a formal solicitation is generated or eligible offers may be directed to the NSRDEC Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). No awards will result from this market survey. Nothing shall be construed herein or through the market survey process to commit or obligate the U.S. Government to further action as a result of this market survey. Firms responding to this market survey shall bear all risk and expense of any resources used to provide the requested information, and all information submitted in response to this request shall become the property of the U.S. Government and will not be returned to the submitter. Respondents must submit their product brochures, technical data, or other information concerning performance and cost within 30 days of this publication.
