- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be issuing a Invitation for Bid for renovation of Building 16, Laser Laboratory at the U.S. Army Solider Systems Center, Natick, Massachusetts. The base bid work under this project includes the interior renovation of approximately 7,700 square feet of research lab and offices in the north end of Building 16 excluding Room 115. The space is being renovated to house offices and research labs. The lab area renovation includes the selective demolition of various mechanical equipment and electrical utilities (including Room 115), walls, doors, and miscellaneous architectural components and finishes. The work involves installing new walls and doors, new ceilings, new architectural finishes on all surfaces, new electrical services, utilities and lighting within the renovated areas, and a new HVAC system for the renovated area. Also included in the work is the structural reinforcing of the existing roof structure. The Option work which will be required to be bid as part of bidders submission includes: renovation of the main access and egress corridor for the building. The corridor renovation includes the demolition of existing ceiling grid, lighting fixtures and HVAC grilles and diffusers. The new work includes the construction of new gypsum board walls, new ceiling system, new lighting, new grilles and diffusers, new glazing in existing windows and painting of the new surfaces and reconditioning of the terrazzo flooring; installation of an epoxy floor coating in the renovated lab and office areas in lieu of sheet linoleum; and renovation work in Room 115 (Laser Lab). THIS SOLICITATION IS 100% HUBZone concerns. Solicitation shall be made available via the Internet (www.fbo.gov) on or about 6/16/08. No paper copies of the solicitation or amendments will be available. Amendments, if any, to this solicitation will be made available at this Internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor fax requests will be accepted. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which will be considered by the New England District.
