- The Vehicular Instrumentation / Transducer Committee (the committee) of the Telemetry Group, Range Commanders Council (RCC) plans to begin an investigation of networked (and smart) sensor systems. Included are remote sensors, the interconnecting network, network controllers, interfaces to other components of the data acquisition system, and the protocols used throughout the sensor network system. The objective is to ascertain the state-of-the-art and status of current and planned systems as candidates for either standardization or recommendations to promote interoperability and interchangeability between member ranges. Those interested in participating in this preliminary phase will be asked to provide the committee with a 30 minute technical briefing. A minimal amount of company background is permitted, but the briefing should concentrate on the technology issues. Presenters will brief the committee and then be dismissed until all briefings are concluded. An open discussion period will conclude these proceedings. All members of the committee are bound by nondisclosure agreements. However, presenters should highlight those portions of the brief that are to be treated as company proprietary. Those responding to this announcement will be notified of the meeting specifics (exact dates and times of the briefing) no later than 30 days prior to the RCC Telemetry Group conference. The tentative dates and location are: 12-14 August in Huntsville, AL. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred as a result for participation in these meetings.
