- NASA/LaRC has a requirement for IDL Site License Maintenance Renewals and singleuser maintenance renewals.NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from ITT Visual Information Solutions.Ifanother manufacturer were selected, LaRC would lose the ability to maintain scientificsource code and to update algorithms in executable programs. These codes would need to bere-designed and re-written and tested against the existing data products. The ITT productfully meets the mission needs without any additional cost or schedule impact to missionobjectives and is fully compatible with existing systems. The IDL software provides keyfeatures used to generate visualizations based on the data produced by atmosphericscience missions, CERES and CALIPSO The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. local timeon May 30, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
