- THIS IS A FULL AND OPEN ACQUISITION. The contractor shall provide all plant, labor, tools, parts equipment, transportation and incidentals necessary to remove existing asphalt shingles, felt, gutters and downspouts from machine shed. Work under this contract requires an "Asbestos Certified Roofer," certified by the State of Nebraska to remove the existing shingle roof system which contains asbestos in the "tar under shingle layer'. The project is located at Valentine National Wildlife Refuge, Cherry County Nebraska. All work shall be done in strict accordance with the enclosed plans and specifications. Work included (numbers are estimates only) the Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to: 1. Removal of existing asphalt shingles, felt, gutters, and downspouts from the machine shed. Approximately 26,000 square feet of roofing shingles that contain asbestos containing tar/adhesive are to be removed and disposed of properly as asbestos containing material (ACM) off the machine roof, asset #10030533.2. Installation of membrane ice/water shield and standing seam metal roofing on the machine shed, in accordance with specifications. New snow stops, gutter, downspouts, and leaf guard on the front only. Contractor is responsible for 1. Determining exact measurements of the roof structure. 2. The purchase and delivery of all required materials. 3. A thorough cleanup of the job site to include the use of a magnetic device to ensure that all nails and screws are picked up.4. The the removal and legal disposal of all removed roofing materials and ACM. The period of performance is 60 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed. It is anticipated that the Notice to Proceed will be issued on or about 23 June 2008. LOCATION AND INSPECTION OF SITE Prospective bidders may inspect the sites by contacting the refuge staff at Valentine NWR, phone (402) 376-3789. Site visits are encouraged. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $25,000 and $100,000. The total performance is 60 days from the Notice to Proceed. This acquisition is open to both large and small businesses. The NAICS code 238160, Roofing Contractors, and small business size standard is $13 Million. The solicitation package is anticipated to be available electronically on/or about May 22, 2008 with an anticipated closing date of June 11, 2008.
