- Under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR Part 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items the U.S. Army RDECOM - Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army Soldier System Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a purchase order with BAE Systems Advanced Ceramics, Inc., 991 Park Center Drive, Vista, CA 92081-7933. This effort is to provide the Government with 40 body armor plates exclusively for research and development testing and evaluation. BAE Systems Advanced Ceramics Inc. has presented three proprietary body armor designs that may exceed the ballistic protection of current USSOCOM body armor or meet the current ballistic protection with reduced weight of current USSOCOM body armor. As such, BAE Systems Advanced Ceramics Inc. is the only available source for the plates. Therefore the contract will be awarded to BAE Systems Advanced Ceramics Inc.
