Description
The purpose of this modification is to provide answers to questions from potential offerors. 1Q: Do we have to build this sensor at NRL, or build it at our facility and deliver to NRL? 1A: It does not need to be made at NRL. 2Q: The illuminator specifications lists 950nm - 1900nm laser illuminator, could clarification be provided. 2A: The intent is to illuminate at a wavelength frequency between 950nm and 1900nm, not to illuminate all frequencies between 950nm and 1900nm. 3Q: How is the illuminator 950nm - 1900nm wavelength band to be interpreted: (a) the illuminator wavelength can be narrow band and must be in the band, (b) the illuminator output is broadband and must cover the band, or (c) the illuminator wavelength must be narrow band and must tune over the band? 3A: (a) is correct. 4Q: If the illuminator can be narrow band, can the illuminator output be at the same wavelength as the 1064nm laser designator? 4A: Illuminator should be off the designator frequency. Illuminator is the more important item, designator is a desired feature < not a requirement at this time. 5Q: Can the illuminator beam divergence be manually varied and set before a mission, or must it be commandable during a mission? 5A: Either is suitable, but commandable during a mission would be attractive. 6Q: Does the 2- 4 W maximum output power of the illuminator refer to average or peak power, when the illuminator is used in pulsed operation? 6A: Average power, 4W output is the maximum usable illuminator to avoid image degredation. 7Q: Is the application sensitive to the spatial uniformity/beam quality of the illuminator? If so, can the spatially uniform the intensity of the illuminator be specified in some form? 7A: Application is insensitive to spatial uniformity/beam quality. 8Q: No direct requirement for the IR marker or laser designator output power is specified. For the purposes of estimating electrical power draw, can a goal for the output power of the IR marker and laser designator be specified? 8A: Finder will be able to provide ~ 20W of prime power to share between the IR marker and laser designator. The illuminator can consume up to an additional 20W.
