- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to procure the following items from P.I. (Physik Instrumente ) L.P., 16 Albert Street, Auburn, MA 01501: 1.Quantity of one (1) -PILine Piezo Motor XY Open frame Stage System (includes M-686.164 stage & 2xC-866.164 controllers) (cat# M-686-XYPM); 2.Quantity of one (1) - Low-Profile Z-Nanopositioning Stage, 100um, Cap. Sensors, Sub-D Connector (cat#P-541.ZCD) and 3.Quantity of one (1) - LVPZT Piezo Amplifier/Position Servo Controller, Cap Sensor, 20-bit RS232 (cat# E-655.CR This is set aside for small business. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is-333314- Optical Instrument and Lens - Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees. The above items together form an encoded microscope scanning system that are 100% mechanical, electronically and software compatible with a preexisting microscope in the NIDDK lab. The stage is designed to minimize mechanical drift in position over periods of 12-18 hours. The following critical product parameters which must be met includes: Physical size and shape: 150 mm x 150 mm x 44 mm (combined length x width x height)X-Y travel of 25 x 25 millimeters with resolution of 0.1 micrometerSelf-locking X-Y component at rest to prevent mechanical drift when not in useZ travel of 100 micrometers with resolution of better than 1 nanometerLong-term Z-position stability, the ability to track the position of the z-stage relative to the fixed frame and provide real-time correction for mechanical drift in the z-directionHandle 1 kg load in Z-directionPiezomotor actuated stages to minimize vibration resulting from stage movementClear central aperture of 70 x 70 mm Available LabView device drivers No other know manufacturers products are known to exist with comparable/compatible specifications. PIs elements are US patent protected and therefore is the only know source for these elements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations however, all responses received, within 15 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. Offerors may request a copy of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) in writing or by FAX to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. It is anticipated that the RFQ NIHDK2008027 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication of this synopsis. Receipts of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ.
