Description
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Research Triangle Park, NC has a requirement for a contractor to provide veterinary services in support of the National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory (NHEERL). The Contractor shall provide a comprehensive program for veterinary medical care including oversight of the health and well being of all research animals. The Contractor shall review, evaluate and make recommendations to the EPA on laboratory animal research protocols and on research animal health care issues related to the operation and maintenance of the animal facilities. The Contractor shall be board certified in Laboratory Animal Medicine by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM). The Contractor shall have experience as a Laboratory Animal Veterinarian working with Scientists in Animal Toxicology, with emphasis on the following research disciplines: neurotoxicology, reproductive toxicology, teratology and perinatal toxicology, geriatric toxicology, pulmonary toxicology, immunotoxicology, cardiovascular toxicology, genotoxicology, hepatotoxicology and other target organ toxicology. It is anticipated that the Government will award a fixed price contract. Period of performance will be sixty months which is inclusive of a base period plus four twelve (12) month option periods. The EPA has determined that this solicitation will be issued as a 100% Small Business Set Aside. The associated NAICS code is 541940 with a size standard of $6.5 million in average annual receipts over the preceding three fiscal years. The RFP is expected to be issued on or about May 22, 2008, and proposals will be due approximately thirty (30) calendar days after the RFP issuance date. The solicitation and amendments will be available at http://www.epa.gov/oam/rtp_cmd/. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the Agency.
